• Sewell, Harmon

    Harmon F. Sewell, 87, died Dec. 31, 2008. He was born August 12, 1921 in Chason. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII in Okinawa and Alaska. He was a retired farmer.

    He is survived by his wife, Robbie Martin Sewell of Greensboro. Graveside services were held Jan 2 at Sycamore Cemetery.

  • Staock, Marilyn

    Marilyn Jean Kaempfer Staock, 57, died Dec. 30, 2008 at home. She was a retired administrative assistant with the Florida House of Representatives.

    She is survived by her husband, James Benjamin "Jim" Stock.

    Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Greensboro First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Killearn Lakes United Methodist Church with interment at Culley's Meadowwood Memorial Park.

  • Timpson, Willie Mae

    Willie Mae Timpson, 89, of Quincy, died Dec. 30, 2008 in Tallahassee. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Antioch MB Church in Quincy, with burial in Sunnyvale Cemetery.

    She is survived by her daughters, Mary Brinson (Clifford) of Quincy, Shirley Leverson (Charles) of Tallahassee and Annette Richardson of Newark, N.J.; sons, Willie Richardson of Attapulgus, Ga., Thomas Richardson of Miami and Julius Timpson of Quincy; and a host of grandchildren.


  • Aulderman Jr., Jesse

    Jesse L. Aulderman Jr., 60, of Quincy, died Dec. 22, 2008 in Quincy. Services were held Dec. 29 at Blessed Hope MB Church, with burial at St. John Cemetery.

    He is survived by his wife, Ruby Aulderman of Quincy; stepsons, Robert J. Mitchell Jr. and James T. Mitchell (Debbie), both of Quincy; brother, Ronnie Tolar (Marcel) of East Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Gloria Jean Ashe of Loraine, Ohio and Degra R. Aulderman of Bloomfield, N.J.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


  • Ellis, Lena

    Lena S. Ellis, 70, of Quincy, died Dec. 24, 2008 at home.

    A native of Philedelphia, she was a member of St. John Church of God in Christ. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 3 at Miracle Temple COGIC in Mt. Pleasant, with burial at Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy.

    The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Jan. 2 at Bradwell Mortuary.

  • Granger, Perry

    Perry Granger, 66, of Mt. Pleasant, died Dec. 28, 2008 in Tallahassee.

    Services will be held Jan. 3, 2009 at St. Mary CME Church at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Jan. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.

  • Jakes, Toney

    Toney Mack Jakes, 49, of Quincy, died Dec. 27, 2008 at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee. He was born May 27, 1959 in Gadsden County to Frances Bowen and the late Isaac Jakes and reared by his stepfather, Albert Reed. He was a member of the Sun Land Care Center of Tallahassee for many years and later at the Sunrise Dorchester Cluster in Tallahassee until his death. He touched many lives through laughter, touching and smiling.

  • Ventry, David

    David Rodney Ventry, 60, died Dec. 26, 2008 in Crawfordvill.

    Services were held Dec. 30 at Harvey-Young Funeral Home in Crawfordville, with a private burial to follow in Hosford.

    Ventery was born in Quincy on Dec. 9, 1948 and had lived in Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Carwfordville and Panacea. He was an occupation systems engineer for Burroughs, Unisys and Honeywell. Ventry served two terms in the U.S. Air Force. He served on the SAC bomber base in Goldsboro, N.C. and two tours of duty on Guam during the Vietnam War.

  • Whitfield, Christine

    Christine Victoria Whitfield, 55, of Quincy, died Dec. 24, 2008 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.

    She was born Sept. 1, 1953 in Quincy to the late Charity and Louis Whitfield Sr. Funeral Services will be held Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Jones AME Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Jan. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Madry Chapel.

  • Brown Sr., Andrew

    Andrew J. Brown Sr., 78, of Tallahassee, died Dec. 14, 2008 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Pennsylvania.

    Funeral services were held Dec. 20 at Friendship PB Church.

    He is survived by his sons, Andrew Brown Jr. of Winter Haven, William Brown of Tallahassee and Douglas Brown of Winter Haven; daughter, Elisa Cooper of Tallahassee; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
