    Charles Faran “Charley” Pittman, of Tallahassee, died March 14, 2009 at Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice.

    Born Jan. 11, 1925 in Jamieson, he was the son of William Bertis and Kate Grub Pittman.

  • Akins, D'Anderia

    D’Anderia Akins, newborn, of Quincy, died Feb. 24, 2009 in Tallahassee.

    Funeral services were held March 5 at Sunnyvale Cemetery.

    Survivors, all of Quincy, include the mother, Kyshada Walker; father, Demarcus Akins; maternal grandmother, Deborah Young (Franklin); maternal great-grandmother, Joetter Young; paternal grandmother, Irene Griffin; and an aunt and uncle.

  • Jones, Omarion

    Omarion Jones, 2, of Midway, died March 4, 2009 in Tallahassee.

    Graveside services will be held Saturday at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Home.

    Survivors include the mother, Laquita Jones of Tallahassee; father, Anthony Price of Quincy; brothers, Kendarius Atkins, Vandarius Atkins and Marquez Baker, all of Tallahassee; great-grandmothers, Edith Colston and Minnie Mae Jones, both of Quincy; and grandparents, Angela and Willie McCray of Midway.

  • Langford, Ida

    Ida E. Cartledge Langford, 78, of Tallahassee, died March 7, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

    Born De. 16, 1930 in Sopchoppy, she had worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for more than 18 years.

    Funeral services were held March 10 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Glory Community.

  • McMullen, Margaret

    Margaret Higdon McMullen, 82, of Quincy, died March 11, 2009 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.

    The family will receive friends Friday at 10 a.m. in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church in Quincy. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11, with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.

    Survivors include her son, Finley McMullen (Stephanie) of Quincy; granddaughters, Margaret Ann Camron McMullen of Quincy and Jennifer Gordon of Tallahassee; and sister, Carol Heath of Cairo, Ga.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil McMullen.

  • Bell, Katie Belle

    Katie Belle Williams Bell, 78, of Gretna, died March 5, 2009 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee.  She was a faithful member of Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church. 

    Services were at Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Gretna with burial following in the Springfield AME Church Cemetery. 

  • Dicks, Clinton

    Clinton AlJoseph Dicks, 44, of Gretna, died March 5, 2009 in Tallahassee. He was a member of Greater Works Miracle and Deliverance Center.   

    Services will be held at 2 p.m. March 14 at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Mt. Pleasant, with burial following in the St. Paul PB Church Cemetery in Gretna. 

    Survivors include his mother, Beatrice Dicks; sister, Donna Robinson; and brother, James E. Dicks. 


  • Farlin, Damion

    Damion Demetrius Farlin, 28, of Quincy, died March 7, 2009 in Quincy. 

    Services will be held at 1 p.m. March 14 at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Quincy, with burial following at the Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy. 

    Survivors include a son, Ryan; daughters, DeAsia and Damiahnna; mother, Rhonda Knox; father, Curtis Farlin (Melissa); grandmother, Earlene Hollis; sisters, Epetonya, Jacqueline, Stephanie and Shana; and brothers, Roderick, Jermaine, Marcus and Kimana.



  • Kirkland Sr., Russell

    Russell Eugene Kirkland Sr., 58, of Quincy, died Feb. 24, 2009 in Tallahassee. 

    Funeral services were held March 4 at Second Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Quincy with burial following in the church cemetery. 

    Kirkland was educated in the public schools of Gadsden County.  He furthered his education by attending Stillman College.  He received a degree in sociology and pursued his profession as a social worker at the Florida State Hospital.  He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.  

  • Nelson, Gregory

    Gregory Wayne Nelson, 38, of Chattahoochee, died March 10, 2009 in Thomasville Ga.

    Nelson was born Sept. 25, 1970 in Chipley to Harry Lee and Kathryn Coleman Nelson. He had been a resident of Chattahoochee for the last 20 years and was a lineman with Mastec. He was a Baptist by faith.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Lee Nelson of Chipley.
