  • Dr. Gloria Ramos

    Dr. Gloria Camacho Ramos departed this life peacefully May 16, 2019, surrounded by her immediate family.
    While Gloria was a longtime resident of Tallahassee, she dedicated much of her life caring for the people of Quincy, Madison, Chattahoochee and Marianna as the proprietor of the Gadsden Family Clinic and as the emergency room physician for many rural hospitals.
    Gloria was born in Lucena City, Philippines, and she was a graduate of the Manila Central University, University of Santo Thomas and Far Eastern University’s School of Medicine.

    He is survived by his daughters, Desmona Hale, Omedra Rumph and Brittany Rumph, all of Quincy; his sons, Gustavo Rumph and James Rumph Jr., both of Gretna; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

    He was a member of New Jerusalem M.B. Church in Havana, where his service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, with burial in the Ayalla Plantation Cemetery in Tallahassee.
    He is survived by his wife, Lilly M. Byrd; sons, Tony Byrd of Havana and LaMont Brown of Newark, N.J.; daughters, Subrina Byrd of Tallahassee and Deborah Byrd, Belinda Chukes, Sheryl Gainous and Jacqueline Byrd, all of Havana; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

    Miriam Lucille Carroll Knight went home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2019, in Thomasville, Ga. She was 95 years old.
    Miriam is survived by her children, Martha Gene Barron (Charles), Miriam Elaine Smith (Jeff) and John Russell Carroll (Cathy); 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
    Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, James Eugene and Martha Lucille Russell, and her daughter, Judith Diane Taylor (Melvin).
