Church to host
antiviolence event
Greenshade AME Church, 8152 Salem Road, Quincy, will host “Youth Stop the Violence!” as a community outreach event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 18. Highlights will include Smokey the Bear, free health and business information, free food, free clothes giveaway, musical performances, a fashion show, fun activities and more. Donations are accepted. On May 8 to 10, Holy Community Church will host a Pre-Mother’s Day Revival featuring various speakers. Third anniversary for Friendship pastor
Friendship P.B. Church at 5775 Ben Bostick Road, Elder A. Louis Ivey, pastor, will be celebrating their pastor’s third anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19. opens Saturday
Bishop Titus B. Deas Jr. and the Deliverance Temple Ministries (DTM) Church Family proudly announce the Grand Opening of their Youth Facility: Youth Empowerment Zone (YEZ) at noon Saturday, May 11. Have breakfast in Gretna
Catherine D. Jackson Scholarship Fund Breakfast will be from 8 to 10 a.m. May 11 at Springfield AMEC Fellowship Hall in Gretna. The purpose is to raise funds for the CDJ Scholarship, which is given to deserving Gadsden County High School graduates each year to assist them in their continuing education. Rev. Shirlean Thomas and the St. Paul A.M.E. Church Family of Midway will host a Mother’s Day worship service featuring former Gadsden County resident, Elder LaTonya “L Michell” Smith, who is the daughter of Ms. Lillie Mae Simmons (Collins). She is an Ordained Elder, Psalmstress, Youth Minister, Minister of Music, Teacher/Speaker, and Songwriter. Currently, she is a member and Ordained Elder of Fire and Hammer International Training Center in Tallahassee, provides music for New Beginning on the Horizon Ministry in Hiram, Ga., and a featured Christian artist on WATC 57’s Atlanta Live.
