Commission approves project, with conditions, by 4-1 vote

By Cheri Harris

Florida Highway Patrol’s plan to build a high-speed test track in Gadsden County has the white flag from Gadsden County Commissioners.

During the June 5 commission meeting, a 4-1 vote in a pair of back-to-back quasi-judicial public hearings, commissioners granted a special exception use for the project and approved gave the go-ahead for the conceptual and preliminary site plan over the objection of a developer who wants to build homes close to the proposed track site. Commissioner Gene Morgan cast the dissenting vote.
