A 33-year-old man accused of attempted murder is in the Gadsden County jail, according to jail records.

Willie Anthony Jr., 33, of Quincy was booked at the jail at 5:40 a.m. Monday.

He has no bond.

Quincy Police Department Chief Glenn Sapp said Anthony was arrested “last night in Gretna.” He said Quincy police were assisted by the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. Quincy Police Department Capt. Robert Mixson said Anthony did not resist arrest.

On Saturday, Quincy police said it was investigating a shooting in the 300 block of South Key Street, according to a news release.

The news release said Quincy police received a call at 8:57 p.m. Saturday from the victim, who said she was shot.

“Upon police arrival, the victim, a 27-year-old female, was found with several gunshot wounds,” the release said.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Tallahassee, the release said.

The victim’s name was not released Saturday because it was a domestic violence case, the release said.

Quincy police are still searching for the weapon, Mixson said.

Quincy police ask that anyone with information about the case call Mixson at 850-627-0138. Mixson said police still had “some individuals we need to question.” He did not rule out future arrests related to the shooting.
