  • Jags rebuilding around youth

    A few months after winning their district and ultimately falling in the Regional Finals, East Gadsden Jaguar Coach Reginald Cunningham watch the majority of his team walk across the graduation stage. As a result, East Gadsden’s leader will enter this season with a lot of youthful
    players.

  • Jags run over Rutherford

    Last Friday the Jaguars followed up their big homecoming victory against Bay High  with a dominant performance against Rutherford High.
    Rutherford received the ball to start the game and began to hit East Gadsden with a successful run-heavy offense.
    Despite giving up several big runs, the Jaguar defense put together a big goal-line stance and stopped the Rams on a huge fourth-down play near the 1-yard line with 7:33 left to play in the opening quarter.

  • Last week for regular season...

    In this final week of regular season volleyball, teams shored up their lineups and worked hard to prepare themselves for the district tournaments to be played this week.

    The Lady Cats went 1-2 in their final week of scheduled games to finish the regular season 10-13.

  • Jags standing tall at homecoming

    Jag Nation was in full effect on this past Friday for East Gadsden’s homecoming game against Bay High.
    The Jaguars received a huge roar from the crowd as they ran onto the field to prepare for the start of the game. Bay looked to silence the home crowd early as they rolled the dice on a fourth-down play inside East Gadsden’s 5-yard line that resulted in a 3-yard touchdown run with 7:45 left in the opening quarter.

    This week marks the final week of the regular season for Florida high-school volleyball.  Next week our four county teams will participate in their district tournaments and compete for the privilege of extending their seasons into state series competition.  In action this past week:

  • Panthers victorious over...

    After a three-game road schedule, the Panthers returned home to the support of “Panther Nation” to play a huge district game against Liberty County.
    The Bulldogs received the opening kick and put together a nice offensive drive that resulted in a 26-yard touchdown run with 8:27 left in the first quarter.
    West Gadsden responded on their opening drive with a touchdown pass from Dentarrius Yon to Sammy Carter that tied the game up 7-7 with 6:02 remaining in the opening period.

  • Final push begins for girls...

    The regular season for Florida high-school volleyball is winding down.  This week marks the final week for district games, while the regular season concludes the next.  District tournaments are scheduled to be played out the following week, Oct. 17 to 21.

  • Jags overrun by Raiders

    This past Friday’s highly anticipated game pitting East Gadsden against Rickards High got off to a fast start as both teams scored on its second offensive play. The Raiders struck first: Senior wide receiver Javon Wooten caught a screen pass and sprinted 50 yards into the end zone to give his team a 7-0 lead with 11:29 left in the first quarter. The Jaguars answered less than a minute later when sophomore running back Tony Street scored on a 78-yard run, which tied the game.

    After reeling off five straight wins, the Munroe volleyball team dropped two matches last week.
    Liberty County
    beats Munroe 25-21, 25-21, 25-16
    The Lady Cats hung tough in the first two games against Liberty County High School but could not pull out wins.  Jada Watkins, Morgan Bot and Mary Pat Thomas were busy on defense, tallying 63 digs.  Bot added 10 kills and Reilly Allman added 11 assists.  Sophomore Emily Anders on added another 12 digs.

  • Lady Bobcats see success at the...

    The Munroe volleyball team has now won four straight matches under new head coach, Steve Canfield.  It doesn’t hurt at all to have a roster with four starting senior players.  Last week the Lady Cats picked up two district wins.  They defeated rival Aucilla Christian 3-1 and Tallavana Christian 3-0.
