  • Bobcats have 2-1 week

A busy week of baseball for Munroe ended with the team winning two district games and dropping a third contest, as their record for the season reached 16-3. The Bobcats, thus far undefeated in District 1-2A, began the week with a 9-5 Tuesday, April 1, road victory over rival Aucilla Christian. The victory didn’t come as easily as the final score might indicate, with Munroe falling behind 5-1 after two innings.

  • Bobcats win one, drop two

Despite losing their first two games of the season, the Munroe Bobcats had to feel like their spring break trip to Jacksonville to play in the P’Town Classic was still very successful. The high-school tournament, hosted by Providence High School, featured several baseball powers including perennial Tennessee state champs Goodpasture Christian, hometown schools Bolles and host Providence, South Fort Myers, and Tallahassee schools Leon and Florida High.

  • Munroe downs Franklin County,...

Taking advantage of steady pitching and strong hitting, the Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe Day School dispatched Franklin County on March 10 at home and Westwood (Camilla, Ga.) on the road March 13 in a pair of games shortened by the run rule. In doing so, Munroe kept its record perfect at 11-0.

“We’re happy to be where we are, but we’re still humble,” said Head Coach Jayme Williams. “We know we’ve got a lot to work on, our defense for one, if we want to get better.”

  • Munroe blanks Aucilla, bests...

One was an important match-up with a district foe and heated rival.

The other was simply a chance to play another good team with nothing really on the line but a chance to better the record.

The outcomes would have made you think just the opposite were true as the Munroe Bobcats buried district foe Aucilla 9-0, out-hitting the visiting Warriors 13-3 in doing so.

  • Soggy week for girls sports

The rain washed away many of the scheduled recent outdoors contests for softball and tennis in the county but a few games managed to squeeze in around the raindrops.

This week is the last week before Gadsden County schools close for spring break week March 17 to 21.
