    This was the one they had been waiting for — the players, parents and fans alike. After beginning the season 0 - 4, the Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe won their first game of the 2012 season Friday night at Godby Field. And they did it in grand fashion, scoring a season-high 41 points and avoiding the turnover bug that has plagued them through the first four contests.

    The Munroe volleyball team picked up two wins last week to move to 8-3 on the season.

    On Monday night they dropped Tallavana Christian 25-5, 25-14, 25-18 winning three straight in the Lion Den in Havana.
    Olivia Fletcher and Mollie Edwards had five kills each. Audrey Thomas continued to show why she was leading the Big Bend in aces with 10 service aces. Kaitlyn Sirmons added nine aces and Kadejah Glynn five.
    Setters Madalyn Pappadakis and Sirmons combined for 11 assists.

  • Jaguars prevail over Tigers 41-6...

    Friday night, the East Gadsden High Jaguars traveled to Jacksonville and proved they are indeed ready for the big dance. The Jaguars beat Andrew Jackson Tigers 41 – 6 in a 4A matchup of North Florida’s new emerging prep football stars.

  • Bobcats fall to Rocky Bayou

    The Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe were bested by the visiting Knights of Rocky Bayou last Friday at Godby field by the score of 41-18.

    While the 0-4 Bobcats scored their season high, they also surrendered the most points they have allowed in four outings.

    The game began on a positive note for RFM as they took a 6-0 lead when Myles Edwards powered over the right side of the line from 3 yards out, culminating a drive that featured the rushing efforts of both Edwards and Jordan Curry.

  • Serve: Gadsden County volleyball

    MUNROE
    The Munroe volleyball team dropped both matches this week. The team lost away games to district rival John Paul II on Tuesday and North Florida Christian on Thursday.

    In Tuesday’s match, the Lady Cats lost in three straight games by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-7. Statistically, Mollie Edward had five kills and Audrey Thomas four aces. Kaitlyn Sirmons added nine digs and three aces.
    On Thursday, NFC was looking to avenge a three-game loss to Munroe in early September.

    Friday night lights featured a clash of the East Gadsden High Jaguars and the Jefferson High Tigers.
    The first play from scrimmage Jarrell Reynolds exploded on a 57-yard touchdown run. The Tigers controlled the ball for 9 minutes of a 12-minute quarter to create an excellent test for the defensive coordinator of the Jaguars. By halftime, the Jaguars’ Pedro Popoca had nailed a 37-yard field goal and the special team capitalized on a miscue by the Tigers’ punt return player, giving the Jaguars an easy recovery in the end zone.

  • Bobcats swamp Gators 30-8

    The Gators of Wewahitchka, led by halfback Jalyn Addison’s 171 rushing yards and three touchdowns, roared to a 30-8 victory over the visiting Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe this past Friday evening.
    Jordan Curry and Myles Edwards, with 13 and 10 tackles, respectively, anchored the Bobcat defense as they held the Gator offense in check for the first half after allowing a score on the opening drive. The Bobcat offense moved the ball effectively on the ground in the first half, but turned the ball over to thwart their scoring opportunities.
