  • Three county girls teams facing...

This past week’s district tournament sent only one county  team home, but allowed three teams to advance to state series competition. One team, West Gadsden, emerged with a championship trophy, while two teams, East Gadsden and Tallavana Christian, continue to compete despite losing the finals.

  • After sluggish start to season...

The Bobcats are finding a win tough to come by in the early season.  The boys baseball team, coached by second-year coach Jeremy Barlow, have not played a game yet in their 2A classification and have found themselves outmatched to date.
Last week saw the Bobcats’ loss to two 7A programs on a road trip the team took to the Pensacola area.

  • Lions, Bobcats see tough week on...

    RF Munroe
The Munroe Bobcats have made steady improvement since their season opener Nov. 18.
One of the main reasons for that improvement has been the play of senior guard Matthew Salters.  Salters, a three-sport standout, did not play basketball last season but waited until his senior season to play.  Coach Andrew Eads could not be happier.
Going back to Jan.y 10, Salters has tallied double figures in scoring and rebounding for seven straight games.

  • As Munroe girls soldier on, Lady...

With only one week remaining until district tournament time, the Tallavana Christian Lady Lions had the only two-win week in girls county basketball.
First was a nerve-wracking 51-50 win by Tallavana Christian over Liberty County.  They followed that win up with a 36-20 win over Taylor County. In this final week of the regular season, the team will be practicing in preparation for their participation in the 2A-District 1 tournament at Aucilla Christian.

  • Panthers see tough week; Jags...

    West Gadsden High School
Following a 48-34 loss on the road against 1A powerhouse Madison High on Tuesday, Jan. 17, West Gadsden traveled to Leon High three days later and lost by a score of 52-47. The Panthers are currently 14-7overall, and 5-1 in district play.
Coach Moten gave a mildly optimistic reflection on his team’s progression toward the end of the regular season: “I’m pleased, I think we are coming around. This time of the year you want to start clicking on all cylinders. We gotta get better at executing in our half-court offense.”

  • Tallavana, Munroe continue...

    Tallavana Christian
Tallavana Christian opened up this week hosting three home games.  They started off with Altha on Monday, Munroe on Tuesday and Aucilla Christian on Thursday.  Munroe and Aucilla are district matchups.

After a busy Christmas, the Bobcats played only one game last week.  Second-year coach Andrew Eads travelled with his squad to Thomasville, Ga., to face Brookwood.

  • The basketball journey of two...

After three highly successful years at West Gadsden High School, senior point guard Andrew Reddick and senior forward Mark Bradwell are determined and focused on bringing a state title to Greensboro. During their time at West Gadsden, these two young men have experienced the highs and lows that come along with playing on the
    hardwood.
