  • Big week for girls basketball,...

    EAST GADSDEN
    The East Gadsden Lady Jags got a huge win over a powerhouse team this past week.  The team defeated Jacksonville’s Raines High School 59-47.  Dondrea Harris broke out for 33 points.  Shanecia Bethea added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Also big on the boards was the Jaguars’  Keyaria James, who pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds.  
    The team defeated Maclay earlier in the week 68-35 and West Gadsden 60-15.

  • Panthers cut loose on Tigers

    West Gadsden cruised to a huge victory at home this past Friday against Jefferson County. The Panther’s offense explosion began with a huge dunk by Mark Bradwell at the beginning of the contest. The home team held its offensive momentum throughout the entire first two quarters of play, and took a 37-19 advantage into the third period.

  • District basketball tourneys...

    This past week marked the final week of district play for our four county girls basketball teams.  This week the teams will fine-tune their skills and next week is district tournament time!  
    In play last week, the East Gadsden Lady Jaguars defeated Maclay 68-35.  
    Munroe and Tallavana met up on Tuesday night at Munroe, and Tallavana held on for a low-scoring 28-23 win.  Tallavana Christian lost to Liberty County 68-48 the week before.

  • WGHS Panthers overpower Gators

    The Panthers dismantled the Gators in Greensboro thispast Thursday, Feb. 11, which earned them the right to travel to Chipley on Tuesday, Feb. 16, to battle the Tigers for a trip to the 1A tournament in Lakeland.
    West Gadsden jumped out to a 2-0 lead 20 seconds into the game but their advantage was quickly erased as Baker High nailed a corner shot from beyond the arch with 6:04 left in the period.

  • Lady Jags headed to Final Four;...

    Jacksonville Bolles is an impressive school, with impressive facilities and a waiting list to get in.  East Gadsden’s Lady Jaguars were not impressed, however.  They were so unimpressed they sent Bolles back to Jax with a 61-39 defeat and took the
    4A Region 1 title back to the house.

  • Girls basketball under way...

    The Lady Jaguars earned two wins this past week, with one being a close win over a long-time rival and the other being a blowout that allowed the bench to empty early.

    The Jaguars used a big first quarter and had four players in double-figure scoring to defeat Rickards.  The Jaguars were led in scoring by  Keyaria James with 23 points, Shanecia Bethea scoring 19 points, Harris adding 13 points and Jamiya Bittles chipping in 10 points.

  • Panthers suffer season-ending...

    West Gadsden’s football season came to an end on the road this past Friday against Sneads High. The Panthers’ rivals held a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and capped off their second scoring drive of the game with a rushing touchdown from a few yards out, which led to a 13-0 advantage for the Pirates with 11:24 remaining until
    half-time.
