  • Panthers defeat final opponent,...

    The West Gadsden Panthers completed their journey in Lakeland and secured a State Championship with a 64-44 win over Wildwood High. Coach Moten said “it was totally worth the wait. We were ready. We lost three straight to Chipley, and our kids wanted this one. Coach Moody was with us, and the kids did it for him.”
    The Panthers brought their aggressive defense into the championship game and held the Wildcat’s offense in check. At the intermission, West Gadsden had a
    25-15 lead.  

  • Girls sports: As flag football...

    Tennis
    The Munroe varsity tennis team, coached by Tamra Erde, moved to 3-1 on the season with two district wins last week.  First the team defeated Florida High in TAllahassee by a narrow 4-3 score.  The doubles duo of Reilly Morgan Bot sealed the deal with an 8-3 defeat in the #2 doubles slot.

  • Panthers one game away from...

    One week after defeating Chipley High,  the Panthers of West Gadsden stepped into the Lakeland Center to take on Hawthorne High.
    The Panthers were able to successfully use their 1-3-1 defense to slow down the Hornets. Hawthorne’s leading scorer, Devin Lawrence was held in check by West Gadsden the entire game due in large part to Andrew Reddick.

  • Panthers are regional champs!

    On Feb. 21 on their home court, the Panthers controlled the first half of their regional finals game, and did a good job of using their full court 1-3-1 defense to neutralize Chipley High.
    Senior point guard Andrew Reddick played the entire game and did a great job of controlling his team’s offense.
    West Gadsden carried a small 11-10 lead into the second quarter and got a huge boost from senior forward Mark Bradwell during the final eight minutes of the first half.

  • Panther girls fall to feisty...

    Munroe, East Gadsden and West Gadsden open up their flag football seasons in a pre-season tournament that will last three days and includes all 11 teams in their huge 1A district.  
    All games will be  played at FAMU next week. East Gadsden will face Chiles on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and West Gadsden will play Lincoln immediately after.  

  • Munroe boys fall in season opener

    The Munroe baseball team dropped two preseason games and lost their season opener to Rickards 8-1 this past Tuesday, Feb. 21, to start the season 0-1.   
    The score was tied 0-0 until the bottom of the fourth when Rickards was able to push one run across.  The fifth inning was scoreless for both teams and Munroe tied up the score 1-1 in the top of the sixth. Stephen Burdick’s solo shot drove in Matt Salters for the Bobcats’ run.

  • After claiming district title,...

    After securing another district championship, West Gadsden completed the next step toward the 1A State Tournament this past Friday with a huge 94-56 play-off victory over Baker High. The Panther Nation was in full effect in Greensboro to witness their team’s dominant performance.
    West Gadsden controlled the game on both ends of the floor during the first half. Defensively the Panthers implemented their 1-3-1 full-court press, and offensively Andrew Reddick and Mark Bradwell continuously attacked the basket.

  • Basketball season ends for...

     Florida High rallied from two points down in the third quarter to defeat East Gadsden in a battle that sent the winner to the Region 1-5A finals.  The Jaguars mounted a third-quarter comeback after trailing 27-23 at the half.  They outscored the Noles 14-7 in the third
    quarter.
    Leading East Gadsden was Jamiya Bittle, who finished with 25 points.  The East Gadsden Lady Jags finished their regular season 17-10.

  • Tallavana boys fall in semifinal

    Tallavana Christian (4-15) playing in the 2A Region 1 semifinals ran up on a very strong Temple Christian basketball team from Jacksonville.  
    Temple Christian were the 2A District champions and ran up an impressive 24-3 record on the season.  Tallavana Christian was runner-up in the 2A-Region 1 tournament.  
    Temple jumped out to a 22-10 first-quarter lead and staked a 43-16 lead by the half.  They poured on 30 more points in the second half.

  • Coach Joe Striplin to fill...

    After orchestrating an historic 10-2 season at West Gadsden including a play-off appearance, Coach Joey Striplin has been chosen as the new head coach at East Gadsden. The vacancy  was a result of Coach Corey Fuller’s move to Godby High School in Tallahassee.
    This past Monday marked the start of Striplin’s journey. Aside from the coaching change, it is also proposed that  East and West Gadsden will merge into one high school in the near future.
