  • Bobcats devour opponents

    The Munroe baseball team picked up momentum heading into their 2A-District 1 tournament this week.  The Bobcats won three games last week with wins over Wewahitchka, Altha and Ponce de Leon.

    The Bobcats took the lead late in the game in an 11-8 victory over Wewahitchka on Tuesday. The game was tied at seven with Munroe batting in the bottom of the fifth when Matthew Salters doubled, driving in two runs.

  • Flag football season ends for...

    The flag football season ended for both East Gadsden and West Gadsden after the regular season.  
    Flag football for Florida High School Athletic Association member schools is composed of only two classifications for for the entire state of public, private and charter schools that have a team.  

  • Gadsden girls on track for...

    Softball
    With neither Munroe nor Tallavana Christian fielding a softball team, and East Gadsden’s team not finishing out the season, that leaves only one softball team in the county remaining. The West Gadsden Lady Panthers participated this week in their 1A District 4 tournament played at Franklin County.  Other schools comprising  are Dean Bozeman, Liberty County and Vernon.

  • Bobcats seeing success as season...

    The Munroe baseball team picked up a win over Altha, had good showing against the area’s hottest team, Wakulla Christian last week, and lost in ten run rule to John Paul II Catholic.

    Munroe blew out Altha 11-3 on Tuesday. Altha took an early lead in the second inning off a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.
    In the bottom of the third inning, Munroe tied things up at three. A wild pitch scored one run for Munroe.

  • Gadsden’s girls sports slow over...

    Spring break put an abrupt halt to the steady progress local  spring sports teams had gained for several weeks.  
    Teams will pick back up this week and start again this week.   Upcoming contests for our county sports teams are:
    Softball
    West Gadsden will take on Vernon in a doubleheader on Thursday and then play at East Gadsden on Friday.  East Gadsden will have played two games prior to facing the Panthers.  They opened up their week with Rickards on Monday and then FAMU on Wednesday.

  • Baseball season continues for...

    Prior to playing 1A Wewahitchka, the Munroe Bobcats were winless against competition ranging from 3A to 7A.  With their first spring break game scheduled against John Paul II cancelled due to weather, the Bobcats travelled to Wewahitchka on Tuesday of  last week. This day the team and coaching staff  left with a 19-13 win and a smile.  

  • Girls sports: As flag football...

    The Munroe varsity tennis team, coached by Tamra Erde, moved to 3-1 on the season with two district wins last week.  First the team defeated Florida High in TAllahassee by a narrow 4-3 score.  The doubles duo of Reilly Morgan Bot sealed the deal with an 8-3 defeat in the #2 doubles slot.

  • After sluggish start to season...

    The Bobcats are finding a win tough to come by in the early season.  The boys baseball team, coached by second-year coach Jeremy Barlow, have not played a game yet in their 2A classification and have found themselves outmatched to date.
    Last week saw the Bobcats’ loss to two 7A programs on a road trip the team took to the Pensacola area.

  • Panthers defeat final opponent,...

    The West Gadsden Panthers completed their journey in Lakeland and secured a State Championship with a 64-44 win over Wildwood High. Coach Moten said “it was totally worth the wait. We were ready. We lost three straight to Chipley, and our kids wanted this one. Coach Moody was with us, and the kids did it for him.”
    The Panthers brought their aggressive defense into the championship game and held the Wildcat’s offense in check. At the intermission, West Gadsden had a
    25-15 lead.  

  • Munroe boys fall in season opener

    The Munroe baseball team dropped two preseason games and lost their season opener to Rickards 8-1 this past Tuesday, Feb. 21, to start the season 0-1.   
    The score was tied 0-0 until the bottom of the fourth when Rickards was able to push one run across.  The fifth inning was scoreless for both teams and Munroe tied up the score 1-1 in the top of the sixth. Stephen Burdick’s solo shot drove in Matt Salters for the Bobcats’ run.
