  • Lady Jags, Panthers win district...

    The East Gadsden Lady Jaguars and the West Gadsden Lady Panthers are in the driver’s seat  for the opening game of the next round of the state series starting this week.   East Gadsden won the 4A District 2 and West Gadsden won the 1A District 4  titles in dominating fashion. Both teams also used the home-court advantage by hosting districts in their own gyms.

  • Lady Panthers claim first...

    In her first year as head coach, Cheryl Moody, a native of Gadsden County has led the Lady Panthers to a district title. The Lady Panther Basketball Team as not clinched the District Title since 2007. Although her team is young, they are starting to understand what it takes to win ball games. Her coaching philosophy is “rebounding and defense win ball games.” Their district record is 8-0, and the overall record is 13-8.

  • Hometown rivals: East Gadsden...

    Shanks gymnasium was already near maximum capacity mid-way through the J.V. game against East and West Gadsden this past Saturday night, and by the time the Varsity teams ran onto the floor to warm-up the entire building was filled with anxious fans ready to see the much anticipated rematch between these two rivals.

    EAST GADSDEN
    The East Gadsden Lady Jags got a huge win over a powerhouse team this past week.  The team defeated Jacksonville’s Raines High School 59-47.  Dondrea Harris broke out for 33 points.  Shanecia Bethea added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Also big on the boards was the Jaguars’  Keyaria James, who pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds.  
    The team defeated Maclay earlier in the week 68-35 and West Gadsden 60-15.

  • Panthers cut loose on Tigers

    West Gadsden cruised to a huge victory at home this past Friday against Jefferson County. The Panther’s offense explosion began with a huge dunk by Mark Bradwell at the beginning of the contest. The home team held its offensive momentum throughout the entire first two quarters of play, and took a 37-19 advantage into the third period.

  • District basketball tourneys...

    This past week marked the final week of district play for our four county girls basketball teams.  This week the teams will fine-tune their skills and next week is district tournament time!  
    In play last week, the East Gadsden Lady Jaguars defeated Maclay 68-35.  
    Munroe and Tallavana met up on Tuesday night at Munroe, and Tallavana held on for a low-scoring 28-23 win.  Tallavana Christian lost to Liberty County 68-48 the week before.
