  • Jags fall to Bolles

    This past Saturday,  East Gadsden’s playoff run ended on their home floor against Bolles High of Jacksonville. The Jaguars came out with a lot of energy and confidence at the start of their regional final game against Bolles High, and after a big 8-point quarter by Amaru Bryant, they held a 13-12 lead at the start of the second quarter.

    Jacksonville Bolles is an impressive school, with impressive facilities and a waiting list to get in.  East Gadsden’s Lady Jaguars were not impressed, however.  They were so unimpressed they sent Bolles back to Jax with a 61-39 defeat and took the
    4A Region 1 title back to the house.

  • WGHS Panthers overpower Gators

    The Panthers dismantled the Gators in Greensboro thispast Thursday, Feb. 11, which earned them the right to travel to Chipley on Tuesday, Feb. 16, to battle the Tigers for a trip to the 1A tournament in Lakeland.
    West Gadsden jumped out to a 2-0 lead 20 seconds into the game but their advantage was quickly erased as Baker High nailed a corner shot from beyond the arch with 6:04 left in the period.

  • Jags: new district champs

    Last Friday the Jaguars traveled to Marianna to battle the Bulldogs for the district championship. The game was extremely close going into the second half, and a lay-in by Robert Cox increased the Jags’ lead to 29-24 with 3:29 left in the third period.

  • East, West girls win first-round playoffs

    Although each team won in a different fashion, both East Gadsden and West Gadsden girls basketball teams won round one of the FHSAA State Series playoffs this past Thursday night in their home gyms.
     East Gadsden handily extinguished Defuniak Springs - Walton by 71-30.  West Gadsden did it the hard but exciting way when freshman Martaishia Atkins hit a three-
    pointer from the left corner just outside the arc in overtime with time expiring for a 55-52 win over Chipley in 1A Region semifinal competition.  

  • Lady Jags advance in playoffs

    Shortly after capturing their first District Championship in several years, the Lady Jags put together a blowout win at home in the first round of the playoffs against Walton High. The Jaguars smothered Walton for the majority of the first and second periods and held a 49-21 lead at half-time.

  • Lady Jags, Panthers win district championships

    The East Gadsden Lady Jaguars and the West Gadsden Lady Panthers are in the driver’s seat  for the opening game of the next round of the state series starting this week.   East Gadsden won the 4A District 2 and West Gadsden won the 1A District 4  titles in dominating fashion. Both teams also used the home-court advantage by hosting districts in their own gyms.
