  • Preparing for Tropical Storm Hermine

    The Gadsden County Times will close at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, to prepare for expected impact from Tropical Storm Hermine. The office will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

    The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office will host a briefing at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, to share information about the storm's expected local impact. Look for a Times update online from that event.

    Although the sun was shining and skies were blue Friday afternoon, many Gadsden county residents are still with out power in the aftermath of Hurricane Hermine. In an Emergency Management meeting Thursday, Gadsden County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Brenda Holt said this was the biggest storm to affect Gadsden County residents since Hurricane Kate in 1985.

    Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Department issues the following update on Tropical Storm Hermine.

  • Gadsden County prepares for Tropical Storm Karen

    Gadsden County is taking precautions as Tropical Storm Karen maintains strength in the Gulf of Mexico. The current forecast is that Tropical Storm Karen is maintaining its maximum wind speed of 65 mph, but has slowed movement. Tropical Storm Karen is expected to make landfall within the next 48 hours.

    No evacuation or emergency orders are in effect at this time.

    Gadsden County officials want to make sure all necessary steps are taken to ensure the safety of all citizens in the event of severe weather.
