  • Sweet, James

    James Edward Sweet, 50, of Tallahassee, died Jan. 29, 2009 in Tallahassee. Services were held Feb. 7 at St. Paul Church in Gretna, with burial in the St. Paul Church Cemetery. 

  • Thomas, Willie

    Willie C. Thomas, 49 of Gretna, died Jan. 20, 2009 in Tallahassee.  Services were held at Tabernacle Church of Christ Written in Heaven in Gretna, with burial in Springfield AME Cemetery in Gretna.  

  • Winbush, John

    John H. Winbush, 67, of Midway, died Jan. 30, 2009.  Service were held Feb. 7, 2009 at Faith Temple of Jesus Christ in Quincy with burial in Sunnyvale Cemetery. 

    He is survived by his children, Shirley Jackson, Gloria Winbush, Betty Tibb, Cathy Dawkins, Annie Winbush, Angela Winbush, Tina Winbush, Sabrina Winbush, Jessie Winbush, John H. Winbush Jr. and Tommy Winbush; brother, George Winbush;  and sister, Betty Adkins Warren.

  • Young, Elizabeth

    Elizabeth William Young, 91, of Havana, died Feb. 1, 2009 in  Havana. Services were held Feb. 7 at Metropolitan Cathedral of Truth in Havana. 

    She is survived by her daughters, Katherine Holton, Bertha Rolax and Keisha Evans; son, Maurice Evans; sisters, Viola Henry, Rutha Mae Richardson and Lillie Johnson; and brothers, Frazier Weatherspoon, Andrew Weatherspoon  and George Weatherspoon.

  • Richardson, Gloria

    Gloria Williams Richardson of Quincy died peacefully Jan. 26, 2009.

    She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jack Richardson.

  • Lindsey, William

    William Scott Lindsey, 53, was born Dec. 29, 1955 in Valdosta, Ga. and died Jan. 20, 2009 in Tallahassee.

  • Hemanes Jr., Rosbey

    Rosbey Lamar Hemanes Jr., 68, of Bonifay, died at the home of his son, Doug Hemanes, after a lengthy illness.

    Born in Quincy, he had lived in Bonifay for three years. He was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ in Quincy, and was a retired paint contractor.

    Services were held Feb. 6 at the church with interment in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Hospice, Ste. C, 4440 Lafayette St., Marianna, FL 32446.

  • Greene, Noel

    Noel Virginia Greene, 34, died Feb. 3 in Orlando.

    Interment will be in the Eastern Cemetery in Quincy.

  • Parramore, Frances

    Frances Quinn Parramore, 86, of Wilson, died Jan 24, 2009. Funeral services were held at Joyner’s Funeral Home, with interment in Evergreen Memorial Park.

    Parramore is survived by her daughters, Debbie Parramore and Lisa Parramore Langley, both of Wilson; grandson, Christopher Thomas Langley of Elizabeth City; niece, Bobbie Randall (Paul) of Kansas City, Kansas; nephew, Donny Taylor (Jane) of Goldsboro; great-nieces, Donna Taylor of Kinston and Tonya Taylor both of Goldsboro.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton E. Parramore.

  • Lloyd, Ola Mae

    Ola Mae Lloyd, 81, of Quincy, died Feb. 5, 2009 in Tallahassee. Services will be held Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah PB Church in Midway, with burial in St. John Cemetery, also in Midway.

    Visitation will be held Freb. 13, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.

    Survivors includer her daughter, Barbara Thomas of Quincy; granddaughters, Cynthia Knight-Evans (Otis) of Quincy; grandsons, Katoris Thomas of Virginia Beach, Va., and Kevin Knight, Brandon Bright and Sergio Walker, all of Quincy.
