Obituaries

Nelson Malcolm Blountpassed away on May 8, 2012. The son of Ide Nelson and Lottie Lanier Blount was born on March 12, 1928, in Gadsden County.  He assisted in developing and managing his family’s business: Blount subdivision, water company and Fish Camp along Blount Creek on Lake Talquin.  He had also worked at Reichhold Chemical Co, U. S. Forest Service and Publix Corporation. His sense of adventure, enjoyment of nature, ingenuity, wit, down-to-earth charm, easy sense of welcome, and twinkle in his eye will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Sherika Delquan McCray, 30, of Mount Pleasant, Florida, died on Saturday May 5, 2012 in Tallahassee.  Services were held on Saturday May 12, 2012 at Tabernacle Church of Christ Written in Heaven in Gretna.  She was interred in the St. John Church Cemetery. 

Florece Tolar Smith, 83 of Quincy, FL. passed away May 7, 2012 in Tallahassee.  She was a native and lifetime resident of Gadsden County and was a member of New Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Quincy.

Florece is survived by her two sons, Gary Smith of Quincy and Randal Smith and his wife Mary Francis of Tallahassee; a brother, Marvin Tolar of Greensboro and two grandsons, Brian Smith of Dothan, Al. and Christopher Smith of Tallahassee.  She was preceded in death in 1999 by her husband, Robert Louis Smith. 

Mrs. Lela Moore, 77, of Newberry, FL died on Thursday, May 10 2012, in Gainesville, FL. Services are Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Hebron A.M.E. Church. Burial will be at the St. Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 1-7 pm. Williams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
