Big bash for babies

Helping new or expecting parents figure out what to do with that wonderful bundle of joy was the purpose of recent community event.

The Gadsden County Healthy Start Coalition hosted its third Healthy Baby Community Baby Shower on Saturday. It drew a crowd of about 200 and about 15 agencies were on hand to provide valuable information and some helpful giveaways.

Sirmons headed to Georgia

On May 8 the Robert F. Munroe Day School student body watched senior four-sport athlete Kaitlyn Sirmons sign a commitment form to play softball at Covenant College in the fall of 2013. Covenant College was founded in 1955 in Lookout Mountain, Ga., near Chattanooga, Tenn. It is an academically rigorous liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

If they were a sports team there would be a parade, no doubt about it.

When some entity from a small rural county in the Panhandle, ends up fifth in the entire state of Florida in anything positive, it is big news.

And even more so when you consider we are talking about high-achieving children in a small local public school.
