• First Baptist Church in Quincy holds Sunday School each week at 9:45 a.m., followed by worship at 10:55. Sunday evening worship begins at 6 p.m. Sunday morning worship services are broadcast on Sunday events at 6 p.m. on 93.3 FM.

• Church services at Mt. Pilgrim Primitive Baptist Church are held the first, second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m., and at 8 a.m. on the third Sunday of each month. Church school begins at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday morning.

Capital Health Plan’s Savvy Senior program will be held May 28 at noon at the Gadsden Arts Center in Quincy. The topic is “Evidence-Based Care of Neck and Back Pain,” presented by Chester Brown. RSVP to 523-7333.

The Quincy Police Department, in conjunction with the Florida Highway Patrol and other local agencies, will conduct a comprehensive roadside safety checkpoint May 22 from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. on U.S. Highway 90 between East Pavillion and West Pavillion streets, eastbound only. Narcotics canines will be on site, and there will be a DUI, driver’s license and vehicle inspection checkpoint.

Renowned vocalist Pam Laws will perform at the Sara May Love Gallery at the Gadsden Arts Center in Quincy May 14. The evening will begin with a wine and cheese reception at 7 p.m., followed by the concert, and end with dessert and coffee.

Tickets for the event are $37 each or two fro $70. Call 875-4866 to make your reservations or stop by the center at 13 N. Madison St.

Proceeds will benefit the center’s after school and summer education programs.
