  • Community Calendar

    The Community Fiesta begins May 1 at 5 p.m. on Friday and will feature music and talent from around the world. Hispanic, Caribbean and southern traditional foods will be available.

    Quincyfest Blues and Barbecue will be held May 2 on the Courthouse Square in Quincy. Local musicians will take the stage at noon, and “Harmonica” Shaw will play at 2 p.m., Eddie Kirkman at 3 and “Biscuit” Miller at 4.

    Backyard Barbecue contests with over $6,000 in prizes will also take place.

    Food and drink vendors will be on site for the public as well.

    The Gadsden County Writers Association is seeking officers for its board of directors, including president, vice president and secretary-treasurer.The association will meet Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Writers and wanna-be writers of all ages and genres are encouraged to attend and meet other authors. Information will be made available regarding sessions to be held Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.

    A book club is also forming, and will meet Jan. 22 at 7 p.m.
