This week marks the time in a season where records and batting averages go out the window, and any team can emerge victorious.

The three county softball teams participate in their district tournaments starting on Tuesday. Munroe will play at Aucilla in the District 1 tournament, East Gadsden will play District 2-4A tournament and West Gadsden will play in the District 4-1A tournament.

Winners and runners-up will advance to the playoffs next Wednesday (2A, 4A) for regional quarterfinals or Friday (1A semifinals).

This past week in action, the Munroe softball team played four games in order to make up for rainouts during the season.

The team lost three of the four, taking losses to Aucilla, Vernon and Blountstown. They did rally in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Altha on Thursday night.

The Munroe tennis team traveled to Pensacola on Tuesday of this past week and faced state finalist Pensacola Catholic on the courts.

Munroe was the runner-up in the 1A District 2 tournament the week before and had to face the top team in District 1.
The team played very well and won several games within the various matches but lost 6-0, ending their season.

Coach Martha Thomas was proud of her team’s efforts and the season they team finished.

The team loses two seniors, Audrey Thomas and Callie Malone.
