"We need individuals, organizations, churches to support our downtown Farmer's Market that will beheld for the first time Saturday, October 9," said Community Redevelopment Director Charles Hayes.
He said people who want to sell fruit, fresh vegetables, homemade baked or canned goods such as jellies and jams and small arts and crafts, baked goods downtown are more than welcome. There will be no fee to set up and sell for October, November and December.
"This is a perfect way for organizations to make money. I am aware also that come of our citizens travel to other cities to attend their Farmer's Markets, this is the perfect vehicle for people to get everything fresh and keep those dollars at home," he said.
The market will be located downtown on South Madison Street one block off the Square.
Vendors are asked to bring their own blue canopy and covered tables to give the open air market a sophisticated and welcoming look. Hayes said that after October, the markets will be held on the first Saturday of each month.
"We having the first Farmer's Market to help kickoff the Inaugural Oktober Fest Music Festival but all others will be held on the first Saturday of each month.
