Troy earns spot on U.S. team

Andre Demetrius Troy, grandson, of Barbara Rollinson of Quincy, has earned a spot on the US basketball team that will represent this country in the Italian International Cup in early August.

Troy stood out in several basketball camps in the Raleigh, N.C. area and has played on city of Raleigh recreation teams.

This past summer he was the third leading scorer on the United Celtics AAU travel team from Raleigh and he won the USBA National Tournament's 12 and under three-point shootout in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The 365 Sports program is the sponsor of the USA Team. The program offers athletes a comprehensive growth opportunity that develops character-building skills.

The organization is directed by former collegiate and professional coaches that encompass the complete athlete experience for today's demanding basketball player.

Troy is a seventh grader at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School in Raleigh, where he was on the school team.

He is the son of Gene and Lesley Michelle (Woods) Troy Jr.
