The Munroe softball team picked up two wins and lost one to the rain. The team struggled against John Paul II in a key district matchup before going ahead in the bottom of the fifth for a narrow 5-4 win.
Kaitlyn Sirmons and Ramsey Higdon had two hits apiece and Higdon and Maddey Pappadakis had one RBI each to spur the offense. Kadijah Glynn, Emilee Harris, Anna Jones and Jeri Sloan added one hit each. Sloan was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game striking out eight, allowing eight hits and walking only two batters.

Blountstown 5
On Thursday night the team hosted Blountstown in a non-district contest. The Lady Cats won 12-5, scoring nine runs in their last two at-bats. Kaye Fletcher, Jeri Sloan and Mary Pat Thomas led the offensive attack with two hits each. Sloan and Thomas finished with three RBI’s, and Kaitlyn Sirmons scored three runs.
Jeri Sloan pitched six innings, striking out four and giving up four hits. Katie Howell came in for the save, striking out one.
The team was rained out on Friday against Aucilla and will play them this week for the regular season district championship.
Their current record is 8-5 on the season and 4-1 in the district.
The Munroe tennis team earned a second straight trip to Pensacola as they placed second in the Class 1A District 2 tournament last week at Maclay. Both doubles teams placed second overall and singles No. 3 Callie Malone and No. 4 Karleebeth Perkins also placed second giving the team four points for the tournament. Audrey Thomas and Olivia Fletcher make up the No. 1 doubles team and Malone and Perkins made up the No. 2 doubles team.
The team is coached by Martha Thomas and is 6-4 heading into regional semifinals this week.
