District softball tournaments are this week and baseball the next.  Munroe (9-9) will host the girls Class A District 3 tournament as the second seed.

Aucilla, undefeated in district play, is the top seed and John Paul II is the last seed. The Lady Cats and John Paul II played on Tuesday of this week with the winner squaring off on  Thursday against Aucilla.

The East Gadsden Jaguar softball team was the last seed in their tough district and as such had to square off against top seeded Godby this past Monday. Godby eliminated the Jaguars in five innings  16-6.

The West Gadsden softball team is in a small but powerful 2A district. As the fourth seed, the softball team will play against perennial power Wewahitchka played at Wewa.

The Munroe softball team finished the regular season with a one-run win and a one-run loss.  The Lady Cats defeated Franklin County, a team they had lost badly to early in the season 2-1 on Tuesday night at Munroe.

Haleigh Corbally pitched a stellar game striking out 11 while walking only five.  Kirsten Allen had two hits and several players had one hit – Corbally, Spenser Morris, Courtney Mayo, Mary Jane Milam and Georgie Branaman had a hit each.

On Thursday the team allowed Maclay to rally and defeat them for the second time this season, 6-5.

Georgie Branaman got the loss on the mound. Corbally had one hit with a double and Mayo also had a hit.
