On May 8 the Robert F. Munroe Day School student body watched senior four-sport athlete Kaitlyn Sirmons sign a commitment form to play softball at Covenant College in the fall of 2013. Covenant College was founded in 1955 in Lookout Mountain, Ga., near Chattanooga, Tenn. It is an academically rigorous liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
Sirmons excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field, finishing fourth in her class and lettering in four sports: volleyball, basketball, softball and cheer. She earned 14 letters during her high-school career.
Kaitlyn was recently named by the FHSAA as one of 12 female athletes from a field of 129 applicants chosen in Florida as an Academic All-State Athlete. Kaitlyn, her parents and Munroe’s athletic director, Susie Morris, will attend the June 10 banquet in Gainesville honoring the 12 female and 12 male athletes selected. From those 24 athletes, one female and one male will be given the FHSAA’s highest honor as The Academic All-State Athlete of the Year for the state of Florida.
