Singleton, Ruth

Ruth Singleton, 100, of Quincy, died Dec. 11 in Tallahassee.

She was born Dec. 6, 1908 in Pelham, Ga. to the late Hattie Ross and Josh Singleton. She attended the public schools of Pelham, was a resident of Quincy and spent most of her life in Hollywood, where she was employed as a domestic homemaker and a devoed member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, before returning to Quincy two years ago.

She attended Antioch MB Church when visiting with family in Quincy, where funeral services will be held Dec. 29 at 2 p.m., with burial in the Williams Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Madry Chapel.

She is survived by a loving and devoted family, including her sister, Erma Singleton of Quincy; niece and caregiver, Cheryle Rahman of Quincy; nieces, Sharon Shepard of West Palm Beach, Barbara Ruth Alexander of Bridgeton, N.J., Dorothy Davis (Henry) of Boynton Beach and Hazel Singleton Wiley of Quincy; nephew, Johnny Lee Webb of Hollywood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
