Only one company submitted a bid Dec. 19 to renovate and construct Gadsden Community Hospital, according to Interim County Manager Bud Parmer.
Childress Construction Company, the company that was awarded the bid first in October, was the only company that showed interest. The bidded $8,453,720 for the job. Parmer said the next step is to have the architect, Bill Rutherford, look the bid over and determine if it meets all of the specifications.
"That process should take just a few days and then we can agenda the bid for the Nov. 29 meeting. The lawyers and the bankers have met and have things all worked out. We want to get all of this behind us by the end of the year," Parmer said.
Ajax Construction, the company that was awarded the bid and had started construction, did not submit a bid.
