Jean Fair Hubbard Simpson, 91, of Columbus, Ga., died Feb. 22, 2009 at The Green House at Calvary in Columbus.
A graveside funeral service was held Feb. 25 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery near Lumpkin, Ga.
Simpson was born Sept. 17, 1917 in Mount Pleasant to Arch N. and Rosa Beggs Hubbard. She moved to Columbus from Tallahassee, where she had worked for the Secretary of State. She had attended business school in Thomasville, Ga. She was a longtime resident of Conrad Drive and was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Bryan Simpson Sr., a brother, Archie B. Hubbard and a sister, Rachel P. Hubbard Scot.
Survivors include her sons, William Bryan Simpson Jr. (Cris Ricci) of Columbus, John Wimberly Simpson (Mary Saunders) of Talbotton, Ga. and Richard Park Simpson (Susan Braswell) of Box Springs, Ga.; daughter, Jean Fair Simpson (F. James Primus) of Franklin, Tenn.; brother, Charles William Hubbard of Mount Pleasant; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
