Sheriff's office: Clear the streets before 7 p.m. to ride out the storm

As Tropical Storm Hermine approaches, Gadsden County officials are advising all residents and nonessential personnel to seek shelter today before 7 p.m. Gov. Rick Scott has issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency for 51 counties, including Gadsden. Gadsden County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Brenda Holt said residents should seek shelter that can withstand very strong winds. She also said East and West Gadsden high schools will serve as shelters. The Gadsden County School Board will be transporting people to shelters. Buses will run at 4 and 6 p.m. Pick-up locations are as follows:

Piggly Wiggly’s Parking Lot
Hospital

Greensboro/Chattahoochee

County Administrator Robert Presnell said sandbags are now available in Quincy’s St. Hebron community at the intersection of Post Plant Road and Power Line Road. For any questions regarding the storm please call 850-875-8642.
