After competing for the first time on the junior varsity level last season, Crossroad Academy is embarking upon their first varsity season in the school’s history this year under the leadership of Andonte Gennie, who lead the JV team this past season.
Coach Gennie has plans to build a solid foundation for his school’s program during this season.
“In my first year I look to have a positive influence on these young men on and off the court. My main goal for this year is to make sure that we grow as a team week in and week out.”
The Scorpion squad consists of several underclassmen, and as a result, Coach Gennie will look to receive solid contributions from senior center Jaylon Price and junior guard Dominic Moon.
Scorpion fans can expect to see a “fast-paced team that will feed off playing strong defense.”
In spite of his young team the Scorpions’ leader believes  “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
Coach Gennie also mentioned the importance of community support during his team’s first year of varsity play: “Put on your purple and come out and support Scorpions’ basketball.”
Let’s show the Scorpions some love as they take the first step toward building their varsity program!
