The Gadsden County Times has welcomed a new general manager.

Alana Rich, a native Floridian who was raised mostly in Citrus County, is excited to be in Gadsden County and says she has fallen in love with the community.

“From the moment I drove into Gadsden County, I knew this was a special community,” she said. “The beauty of the area and historic homes are breathtaking. I am enjoying meeting with community leaders, festival coordinators and residents.”

Rich, who has lived in Keaton Beach, west of Perry, for the past year and a half, said she is looking forward to living in Gadsden County as soon as possible, and plans to be heavily involved in the community.

“I look forward to being involved with and promoting this wonderful area,” she said. “This community has so very much to offer and I look forward to being a valid part of the future growth.”

Rich is excited about the growth and changes going on at the Times, and plans to lead the newspaper to the next level, growing it with the community.

“I am blessed with a wonderful staff: Angye, Chris, Becky, Wayne, Alice, Raynita, Mary, Jimmy and Joe. They have quickly proven their readiness to take this newspaper to the next level in achieving our common goal to bring you the best in news coverage," she said.

Rich graduated from Citrus High School in 1976 with a scholarship in journalism. She attended Tallahassee Community College in Tallahassee, and is a graduate of Dale Carnegie, Leadership Citrus and a Paul Harris Fellowship recipient.

She has been a member of Rotary Club International for many years, and has been involved in the newspaper business and sales her entire life. She was the owner and publisher of the award winning "Nature Coast Visitor’s Guide” for 10 years, which she sold to Citrus Publishing Inc. in 2008.

Rich was the Citrus County Chronicle’s Business Woman of the Year, and was the Citrus County Chamber and Economic Development recipient for Business of the Year.

She has three children and four grandchildren, and loves photography, music and all mediums of art.
