The Robert F. Munroe softball team won one game and dropped two in its final week of softball before entering the district tournament this week at Aucilla. On Monday night the team lost a tough one to visiting Franklin County 7-5. Neither team scored in the first three innings but Franklin County struck first with two runs in the top of the fourth. Munroe answered in the bottom of the inning when Montana Manley blasted a two-run shot over the right center field fence for her fourth home run of the season. The Cats managed to push one more run across and take a 3-2 lead.
The Seahawks struck big in the top of the fifth with five runs and the Lady Cats could only push across two more for a two-run loss.
Manley, Courtney Mayo, Kristen Allen and Mary Jane Milam each had a hit for Munroe.
On Tuesday Haleigh Corbally struck out 12 to help lead her team to a 13-7 key district win over visiting Malone. Corbally also led offensively with three hits including a home run. Gathering two hits were Spenser Morris, Georgia Davis, Allen, Manley and Milam. Allen also stole three bases and Milam added three RBIs and Manley two RBIs.
On Thursday the team played at Chiles High School and led 1-0 after five innings and a half innings. In the bottom of the fifth Chiles struck for three runs and then scored three more in the bottom of the sixth. Chiles won 6-2.
Manley had a run scoring double and Davis had two hits. Morris and Erin Sampson added one hit each.
The Munroe team finished their regular season 13-8.
