Walter Louis Reid, 69, Pensacola, died Jan. 4 at the Baptist Hospital Center in Pensacola.
Born April 6, 1939 in Chattahoochee to Cora Lee and James Reid Jr., he was the grandson of Norris Dawkins Sr. He attended public school in Gadsden County, converted and joined Elizabeth AME Church, and married Teresa Jackson.He was the father of three children. He moved to Pensacola in 1967 and was a heavy equipment driver.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth Church, with burial in Bonnie Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
Survivors include his mother, Cora Lee Dawkins of Chattahoochee; daughters, Wanda Reid Hill and Vanassa Reid of Rochester, N.Y., and Patricia Davis of Jacksonville; sisters, Sondra Germany (Carl) of Chattahoochee and Sharon Reid of Quincy; brothers, Earnest Dawkins (Carleen) of Chattahoochee and Calvin Reid of Quincy; aunt, Susie Fisher of Pensacola; uncle, Isaac Dawkins (Utha Lee) of Quincy; five grandchildren, several stepchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
