QPD arrests two on armed robbery charges

Quincy Police responded at about 10 p.m. June 22 to an armed robbery call at the Kangaroo Convenience Store located at 1134 W. Jefferson Street. Upon arrival, contact was made with alleged victim, a woman, and police learned the following: 


The woman was a passenger in a vehicle which had been driven to the store by a friend. The woman’s friend had exited the car to go inside the store and the she stayed inside the vehicle. While seated in the vehicle, the woman was approached by two men she had seen minutes earlier walk to the store together. One of the men approached the woman, who had the car window rolled down. The man pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the woman, and while leaning in the window began to grab and demand the woman’s purse. While this happened, the woman’s friend was leaving the store and began to yell when she saw what was occurring to the woman in the car. The armed suspect was able to obtain the woman’s purse and he and his accomplice then ran away together. The victim was not physically injured.

After several weeks of conducting interviews and examining evidence, QPD CID Investigators were able to obtain arrest warrants on July 10 for two men for robbery and grand theft. Police have arrested:

Nicholas McMann Gilyard, 23, 88 Pall Barrier Road Quincy, on charges of robbery and grand theft. Gilyard was armed with a gun, according to QPD.

William Doupont Moore III, 20, 615 Williams St., Quincy, on charges of robbery and grand theft. 

Both men were being held at the Gadsden County Jail.
