St. John Church of God in Christ will host an annual Fall Festival and Community Bazaar all day Saturday, Oct. 26, starting at 9 a.m. The community event features free food and activities for the youth including a moonwalk, slide and other games. Come out and enjoy the fall festivities. Bring your lawn or sports chair, sit back and relax with live music, food, and lots of family fun!
The free praise concert, outside festival style, will include various talents such as singing, instrumental, dancing and gospel karaoke/open mic and feature a comedy act by Albert Jenkins and the Gospel Hubcaps. Come share your Christian talent. We are seeking all types of praise ministry to fellowship with us: singing (soloists, youth/ collegiate/adult choirs/praise teams, instrumental, comedy, dance, rap, mime, step, and spoken word/poetry). The Health and Wellness Fair will include free glucose screenings and blood pressure checks, diabetes awareness, HIV/AIDS awareness and education by Big Bend Cares, wellness information and more. The registration deadline for interested nurses or health organizations is Saturday, Oct. 2.
The Community Bazaar showcases crafts, tasty food, merchandise and yard sale must-haves from community residents and businesses. Vendor space is $25. The church’s fried fish sandwiches and smoked turkey legs are the best around. Pre-paid tickets are available on Sundays at church or outside in front of the church on Saturdays: Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 19.

Havana Gospel Fest 2013 will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at Havana Northside High. Havana Community Development Corporation Inc. is sponsoring this event as a fundraiser for the renovation of the Old Havana Northside High School Complex. It will be on the grounds of the Complex. There will be local and out of town choirs, praise teams, youth dancers, youth choirs, quartets, door prizes, raffles, fun and food.

Getting healthy in Gretna
Greater Saint Paul P.B. Church, 110 Lanier Drive, Gretna, invites the community to the eighth annual Gretna Health and Help Day. The event will be held Saturday, October 5, at St.Paul P.B. Church. There will be a 5K Walk starting at the Church from 8 to 9 a.m.The other health and help events will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There will be more than 35 agencies, businesses individuals and churches providing free services to the public. Some of the services that will be available are: health screenings and referrals, agency referrals, legal referrals, mental health referrals, senior citizen services, veterans services, medication counseling, financial counseling, vocational services, library services, family, school services and voter registration.
