Open mike at St. John COGIC fall festival

St. John Church of God in Christ (St. John COGIC) will host their annual Fall Festival and Community Bazaar on Saturday, November 17, 2012, all day beginning at 9 a.m. Come out and enjoy the fall festivities. Bring your lawn chair, sit back, and relax with music, gospel karaoke, food, and lots of family fun! The community event features youth events, a bazaar, carnival games, clown fun, a health fair, and homeless food drive. 

Open mike/who’s got talent? Come share your Christian talent. Singing, praise dancing, miming/drama, stepping, rapping, spoken word, and comedy.

Free youth activities: a moonwalk, slide, field day events, and food. Youth Field Day is for youth of all ages and will include the 100-yard dash, tug-of-war, sack race, three-legged race, hula-hoop, and jump rope.

The health fair will include free glucose screenings and blood pressure checks, diabetes awareness, HIV/AIDS awareness and education by Big Bend Cares, wellness information, and much more.

The food and winter supplies drive, co-sponsored with Pat’s Pantry for the Poor Inc., will collect the following items to help the community’s homeless prepare for winter: non-perishable foods, new or gently used clothing, i.e., coats and gloves, and camping gear, i.e., tents and blankets.

The bazaar showcases crafts, merchandise, and yard sale must-haves from community residents and businesses. Vendor space is $25. Buy tickets at the event for carnival games, clown fun and food. Menu: fried fish, turkey legs, chili bowls, nachos, corn dogs, hot dogs, hot wings, cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes, candy apples, and more.
