Church plans time for family, friends

Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, 5775 Ben Bostick Road, Quincy, Elder A. Louis Ivey, pastor, is getting ready for their Annual Family and Friends Day Program, which will start at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.  The New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Havana, Pastor Griggs will be the guest church for the evening.  Everyone is invited to come and celebrate and enjoy “Family and Friends.”

On the Third Sunday, at 11 a.m. Aug.  18, the pastor and members will host the Transportation Appreciation Day Program to honor the bus drivers, attendants and everyone at the Transportation Department that it takes to carry our most precious cargo (our children) to school each day, we extend an invitation to all to come and celebrate and most of all to show love and appreciation to these great men and women.

St. Paul celebrates the Rev. Thomas

St. Paul A.M.E. Church Family of Midway will honor their pastor, the Rev. Shirlean Thomas, with Appreciation II at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. The Rev. Larryisaac Scott will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to come and worship with us as we show our love and appreciation for our great pastor.

Service 

honors the Watsons

At 11 a.m. Aug. 18, Shiloh P.B. Church will host a Memorial Service for Mattie and Ester (Red) Watson Sr. The service will also honor their seven children who drowned Aug. 18, 1962, in Lake Talquin at Robinson’s Landing. Essie B., Delores, Ethel Lee, Leonard, Bernard, Jennifer, and Terry Watson were all students of St. John Elementary School. Any former classmates who are able to attend would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Revival 

‘Restore Me’

The church family at Agape Christian Fellowship Center, 10 S. Munroe St., Quincy, invites the public to its annual revival, 7:30 nightly, Aug. 5 to 7, with Prophet Kenneth Davis from Showers of Blessings COGIC of Mobile, Ala. On Saturday, July 27, AFAM Food Distribution will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

New Bethel’s 

big celebration

Join the family of God in worship as the New Bethel AME Church Family celebrates its 120th Church Anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11. The anniversary theme is: “Look Where He Brought Us From.”

The church family invites the entire community to share in the celebration of the past, present and future in giving God the Glory for enabling the Bethelites to do “God’s Work God’s Way.” Generations of all past, present, and future Bethel family, friends and acquaintances are encouraged to join in worship and praise to an almighty God.The Rev. Dr. Leander Byrd is the speaker for the anniversary celebration. Sis. Rosalyn Davis is the anniversary committee chairperson, Bro. Reginald Bryant is the co-Chairperson and the Rev. Charlie C. Worthen, pastor. 

Revival in Gretna

The Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 14533 Main St., Gretna, and under the pastorate of the Rev. Marcus Smith will celebrate a season of revival beginning Thursday, Aug. 8 to 10 starting at 7 nightly. The Rev. Jason Montgomery of Bartow will deliver God’s word, along with guest choirs from the surrounding area. All are welcome to come and worship.
