West Gadsden’s Panthers faced an undefeated Port St. Joe team Friday night, and at the final buzzer, the Tiger Sharks remained undefeated. The Sharks took the win 15-6.
The win came despite the Sharks’ worst offensive performance of the year. The Sharks turned the ball over four times in the first half, and tallied 81 yards in penalties. The team remains 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the district.
The Panthers didn’t fare much better, with 132 yards in penalties; 92 of those came in the first half. The team also had four turnovers. WGHS did intercept the ball with three minutes left in the first half, running the ball into the end zone. But an illegal block on the return took the Panthers back to the 16 yard line. Three plays later, Shermonta Hollins took the ball into the end zone from 9 yards out to rack up the Panthers’ only points of the night.
West Gadsden’s season record is 0-6 overall.
