Rosa Lee Betts Mote, 88, of Quincy, died Jan. 3, 2009. Funeral services were held Jan. 6 at New Philadelphia Prebyterian Church in Quincy, where she was a member.
Born to Carrie Rudd and Edmond Betts on Sept. 2, 1920, she had lived all her life in Gadsden Cunty. Mote was an accomplished seamstress, needlepoint hobbyist and gardener. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends and continued to do so up until her eyesight began to fail. She also was an animal lover and kept the birds and animals at her home in the country well fed.
She is sruvived by her son, Robert P. "Bobby" Joyner (Eloise) of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Sara Joyner Clark (Kelly) of Quincy; grandchildren, Lisa Clark Shierling (Mike) of Bristol, Trina Joyner Harvey of Quincy and Bradley Joyner (Melanie) of Quincy; great-grandchildren, Eric Harvey, Elizabeth Shierling, Jessica Joyner, Miller Joyner and Sarah Jeah Shierling; sister, Ruby Ware (Carl) of Sneads; and a dear, close friend, Mary Moody of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Paul Dykes, siblings, Durant Betts Morris, Julia Betts Hemanes, Clariage Betts, Edmond Betts, Paul Dykes Jr. and Annie May Dykes, her son, James Joyner, and her husband, Emory Mote.
