Miss Munroe to be crowned

The organizations of Robert F. Munroe Day School recently announced contestants for the crowning of “Miss Munroe 2009.” This year the ceremony will take place at half time of the boys basketball game against Covenant Christian School of Panama City. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16.

Their respective peers have chosen representatives from the E-Club, Beta, Anchor and Key clubs, as well as chorus, Student Council, Brain Brawl and the Reflections ’09 and Paw Print staffs as members of the “Miss Munroe” court.

Meg Summerford, Anchor Club representative, is the daughter of Dale and Carolyn Summerford of Quincy. Desiree Whiddon, daughter of Tim and Terri Whiddon of Quincy is the Beta Club nominee. Jonni Mitchell represents Brain Brawl and is the daughter of James and Belinda Mitchell of Quincy. Courtney White, daughter of Thomas and Kimberly White of Quincy, is the chorus representative.

E-Club members have chosen Amy Allen, daughter of Mark and Brenda Allen of Chattahoochee, as their contestant. Anna Dooner, daughter of Michael and Jacqueline Dooner of Havana, is the Key Club Sweetheart and their nominee. The Paw Print staff has chosen Cassi Smith, daughter of Wade and Dawn Williams of Quincy as the staff representative.

The Reflections ’09 staff is represented by Clara McLendon, daughter of Paul and Connie McLendon of Quincy.

Sidney Johnson is the daughter of John and Angel Johnson of Quincy and represents the Student Council.

Students in grades seven through 12 will vote their choice for Robert F. Munroe’s 2009 “Miss Munroe” on Friday morning before the evening festivities. Malorie McKinnon, daughter of Howard and Elaine McKinnon of Havana and the 2008 queen, will be on hand to crown the new queen.

She is currently attending University of Florida.

Barbecue dinners will be available at the concession stand in the gym beginning at 5 p.m. Games will begin with the boys JV at 4:30 followed by the varsity girls at 6 p.m., and the final game will begin for the varsity boys at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a sock hop in the gym following the last game.
