Chelsea McMillan, a 2007 graduate of East Gadsden High School who currently attends the University of South Carolina Upstate, has been invited to become a member of the USA Athletes International Basketball Team.

McMillan, who also attended Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, leads her USCU team in scoring (14.6), rebounding (10.9), free-throws (81.7 percent) and blocked shots (1.8). She plays forward for the Spartans, and is majoring in accounting.

While at East Gadsden, McMillan earned Second Team Class 3A All-State honors as a sophomore and Third Team Class 4A All-State honors as a senior. She averaged 17 points, 15 rebounds and three assists per game during her prep career, leading EGHS to two state semifinals and earning team MVP honors as a junior and senior.

The international team will be traveling to Spain in May and June for a showcase tour. Each member of the team has to pay her own expenses. McMillan and her mother, Patricia McMillan-Gatlin, are currently working to raise the needed funds.
