LEOs seeking driver after hit-and-run incident in Lake Talquin

The Florida Highway Patrol and Gadsden County authorities are searching for the person who hit 15-year-old Austin Truman Sunday afternoon in the Lake Talquin area.

The person was driving a green Chevrolet, unknown make and model, when he or she encountered Truman, who was riding his bicycle on Drake Acres Road around 3:30 p.m.

According to an FHP report, the driver was traveling east on Drake Acres Road while Truman was headed west. The vehicle crossed over the center line and into the path of the bicycle. Truman was thrown from the bicycle onto the hood of the Chevrolet and came to rest in the westbound lane.

Truman was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. His injuries were serious but not considered life threatening.

The driver of the green Chevrolet, the report stated, continued eastbound without stopping.
