Despite entering the contest as a district runner-up facing a district champ, it was all Munroe on Oct. 30 as they defeated the 2A-District 2 winner, Seacoast Christian, in quick fashion in Jacksonville.
The Lady Cats took the first three games 25-10, 25-15, 25-13. Mollie Edwards led the team offensively with 10 kills, followed by Audrey Thomas with seven and Olivia Fletcher with five.
Madalyn Pappadakis served up 14 assists and second setter, Kaitlyn Sirmons, eight. Sirmons also dug out 12 balls on defense. Edwards added six digs. Sirmons and Edwards also combined for 12 service aces.
The team stands at 15-10 as they face John Paul II earlier this week at John Paul II. The two teams have met three times this year, four if you count a pre-season pairing, and John Paul II has won all three contests. Munroe has won one game and hopes to stretch that into a match if they can play focused, aggressive volleyball and don’t allow big momentum shifts.
Should they win, they will face the winner of Cornerstone Academy and Geneva on Saturday, Nov. 10.
