A talented Liberty County volleyball team won their 16th game of the season against district opponent West Gadsden last week.
In other action, the Munroe Lady Cats won three matches last week with wins over West Gadsden, Altha (district) and Community Christian to run their record to 13-3 on the season. The team lost only one game the entire week when they dropped a 20-25 contest to Altha.
Courtney Mayo had seven aces and six kills to put a fine game together for the Lady Cats as they hosted West Gadsden.
Spenser Morris added four kills and Kristen Allen tallied 14 assists. Allen also served up an impressive 13 aces and Kaitlyn Sirmons and Mollie Edwards combined for 10 aces.
The Lady Cats beat Altha on their own court, avenging an earlier home loss to the Wildcats. The contest was also a key district win as the two Class A District 2 teams battle it out for second place in the district tournament.
Georgie Branaman was big at middle blocker coming up with nine kills and two blocks. Brnaman was moved from outside hitter to middle when starting middle blocker Audrey Thomas went down a week ago with an ankle injury.
Mayo and Morris combined for 13 kills and 14 digs. Sirmons added six aces and Allen five.
The Lady Cats made quick work out of the visiting Chargers of Community Christian in Tallahassee.
Mayo and Morris each had seven kills and Mayo and Edwards each added four digs. Mayo and Allen had six aces each as well.
