The Munroe Lady Cats won two of three last week to run their record to 6-1 on the season. The team defeated North Florida Christian and FAMU on back-to-back nights but then dropped a key district matchup to Altha at home on Thursday.

The Lady Cats defeated the Eagles in three straight to mark the first volleyball win over NFC in 5 years. Spenser Morris totaled seven kills and Georgie Branaman added six kills and Audrey Thomas four. Kristen Allen tossed up 13 assists and Allen and Courtney Mayo led on defense with nine digs. Morris, Branaman and Thomas had three digs each.

Outside hitter Spenser Morris and middle blocker Courtney Mayo combined for 15 kills in a district win over FAMU. This is the Rattlers’ first year with a volleyball team in 6 years and the team’s first foray into district play. Setter Allen tallied 21 assists.

Altha gave the Lady Cats their first loss of the season and unfortunately, it was an important district loss for Munroe.
In a tight first match, Munroe gave up a 22-19 lead and lost 25-23. The second game was close until Altha went on a run. Game three was all Altha.
Morris and freshman Thomas had five kills each and Branaman added four. Freshman Kaitlyn Sirmons led the defensive effort as the libero tallied seven digs. Morris added five and Mayo three.
Setter Kristen Allen had 11 assists and four aces. Mayo added three service aces.
The loss dropped the team to 6-1. This week the Cats play Grace Christian, John Paul II and Godby High School.
