It was not a stellar week in county girls’ basketball last week. Only one team came away with a single win, while all other contests reported were losses.
Munroe 52
Tallavana 14
The Lady Cats defeated the Lady Lions in a 2A-District 1 competition at the Munroe gym last Thursday night. Audrey Thomas used her height to her advantage, and the senior center earned a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Mollie Edwards followed with 12 points. Edwards and Kaitlyn Sirmons dished out four assists each, and Kadejah Glynn recorded three steals.
Taniyah Lockwood scored 12 out of Tallavana’s 14 points.

Tallavana 19
Tallavana’s efforts against the defending Class 2A state champs, FAMU-DRS, were no more successful than any other team that has faced the Rattlers. Taniyah Lockwood had double figures for the second time in the week with 15 points.

Brookwood 32
Munroe 8
The Munroe basketball team could not muster any offensive power, scoring only one basketball in each of the first three quarters and going scoreless in the fourth in a lop-sided loss at Brookwood on Friday night. Mollie Edwards and Audrey Thomas did manage five rebounds each as the Munroe team dropped to 2-5 on the season.

Maclay 58
East Gadsden 22
Maclay moved to 7-0 on the season in a drumming of East Gadsden in Tallahassee last Monday night. The Marauders led 39-14 at the half and went on to a 58-22 win.
Clinesia Gurley scored 10 points for the Jaguars.
