The Gadsden County chapter of Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) is hosting the second annual Kick Butts Day Kickball Tournament on March 24. The event will draw attention to prevalent tobacco topics, including secondhand smoke, smokeless tobacco, and smoke free multi unit housing. Our principal focus will be on flavored tobacco and how these products appeal to and addict our youth. A petition table will be set up at the event so participants will have a chance to ask their local elected officials for resolutions restricting the sale of these products.
Eight teams from our county will compete in the kickball tournament. Our teams will be made up of SWAT students from our six clubs, employees from the City of Quincy, students from the FSU College of Medicine, and other local residents and businesses who are interested in participating. Teams must have a minimum of eight and a maximum of sixteen players in order to play. Volunteers are also needed before, during, and after the event to help with a variety of tasks.
This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served during the tournament.
SWAT is Florida's statewide youth organization working to mobilize, educate and equip Florida youth to revolt against and de-glamorize Big Tobacco.
