Toney Mack Jakes, 49, of Quincy, died Dec. 27, 2008 at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee. He was born May 27, 1959 in Gadsden County to Frances Bowen and the late Isaac Jakes and reared by his stepfather, Albert Reed. He was a member of the Sun Land Care Center of Tallahassee for many years and later at the Sunrise Dorchester Cluster in Tallahassee until his death. He touched many lives through laughter, touching and smiling.
Funeral services will be held Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at St. James MB Church, with burial in the St. James Cemetery, Quincy. Visitation will be held Jan. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Frances and Albert Reed of Quincy; brothers, Andrew Reed (Cynthia), Craig Reed, Leonard Reed of Quincy, Eric Jakes, Christopher Jakes of Quincy, Ronald Reed of Virginia Beach, Va. and Rufus Reed of Albany, Ga.; sisters, Betty Green of Chesapeake, Va., Annette Bradley of Atlanta, Ga., Gwendolyn Reed, Sylvial Jakes Sanders (Morris) of Quincy, Adele Jakes, Kimberly Jakes Lee (Kevin) of Chattahoochee, Crystal Reed, Sandra Jakes, Christine Jakes and Gloria Jakes Miller (Kent) of Tallahassee; maternal grandmother, Ella Mae Bowen of Quincy; friend, Stan Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
